Robert Morris Tschannen
Richmond - Robert Morris Tschannen, 74 years old of Richmond, IL, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2025 after a long fight with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born February 24, 1951 in Highland, Ill., the son of the late Morris and Helen (nèe Hunter) Tschannen.
Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren always referred to him as Bubba. Bob will be remembered for his many hobbies and talents and was known for his contagious smile and dry sense of humor. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many summers at his favorite fishing spot on Atkins Lake in Northern Wisconsin. He had an impressive collection of lures, baits, and tackle that would make any fisherman jealous, including his favorite "the lure" that seemed to catch the biggest fish. Once you fished with "the lure" and caught a fish, you got your own "the lure" with your name written on it in sharpie.
Bob was a grilling master. It would not be 4th of July without Bob's famous ribs and barbeque sauce, AKA Bubba-que, and his family homemade ice cream recipe. He had one rule when it came to making ice cream – If you didn't crank, you didn't eat. He not only loved to read poetry but write it as well. He wrote countless poems about life, love, spirit, and adventure over the years, giving inspiration to anyone that reads his work.
Bob grew up in Wood River, IL and attended Roxana High School. As a child, he spent many family vacations at his family's cabin on the Illinois River. He then attended Northern Illinois University and majored in Earth Science. He later worked as a water treatment specialist and certified water technician until he retired in 2015.
Bob was a long-time member of Millburn United Church of Christ in Millburn, IL. It was there that he celebrated weddings and participated in various committees of the church community.
On June 21, 2014, Bob married Nancy Skoglund-Burnett at Millburn United Church of Christ, Old Mill Creek, IL.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Amy (Michael) Sigler, Michael (Bonnie) Tschannen; step-children, Krystal Burnett, Mary Kate Burnett and Patrick Burnett; his grandchildren, Abby, Sean, Rachel and Alex; his siblings, Beverly (Ron) Webber, Joe (Vicki) Tschannen; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lynn Tschannen.
The family would like to thank the Journey Care Hospice Team for their amazing care and support. The many caregivers that have taken care of Bob over this past year have become part of the family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 30th, at 11 a.m. at the Millburn Congregational United Church of Christ, 19073 Old Town Ct., Old Mill Creek, IL 60046 with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the church at
