Gordon Richards Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Forsythe Gould Funeral Home on Mar. 28, 2026.
Gordon F. Richards, Jr., age 71 of Manhattan, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 26, 2026. He is survived by his wife Margaret Richards (nee Caliban) of over 43 years, children Gordon F. Richards III and Samantha Richards, grandchildren Benjamin and Adalee, siblings Joy Richards, Dawn (Gerry) Shanahan, and Noel Richards, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Gordon F. Richards, Sr. and Anne Richards (nee Beechick).

Gordon graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in business. He used his education to develop Richards and Richards Construction with his brother, Noel. Of the many accomplishments and dreams he achieved, he was most proud of watching the family he created grow, learn, and live their lives with love for our Lord. From big adventures like camping trips and vacations to simple days at home working in the yard with his wife, Gordon always found a way to make people laugh and share his stories with others. He loved hunting, building, and fishing and took pride in passing down these skills and his knowledge to those he loved. A beloved husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who left too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date by Gordon's family. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com
