Kim Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - Hartford on Aug. 30, 2024.
Kim Renee Davis, 68, died peacefully at home in West Hartford, CT on Friday, August 23, 2024. She was born in Hartford on July 8, 1956, and was the daughter of the late Howard Greene Davis, Jr. and Carol Ann (Littmon) Davis.
Kim was raised in the North End and always dreamed of becoming a nurse. As a young girl, she was active in the Girl Scouts and eventually became a Troup Leader. She also was actively involved in the Union Baptist Church of Hartford, where she was baptized as a teenager.
Following her high school graduation from Westledge School in 1974, Kim attended American University and then the University of Connecticut School of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. Thereafter, she embarked on a long and successful career as a registered nurse. She was a nurse practitioner at Planned Parenthood for several years and a registered nurse with the State of Connecticut for over 25 years, first with the Hartford Regional Center and then with the state Department of Public Health.
Kim spent 12 years living in Greenwich before moving to West Hartford in 1998 with her three children. She was devoted to her children, family, friends, and community. She often volunteered at local events. In her later years, she derived immense joy and pleasure from being granddaughter Nora's "Gamma Gamma." She loved to travel, hang out with her extended family and friends, meet new people, have new adventures, play cards, laugh, joke, be silly, dance, and sing. She was a reader and intellectual who was curious by nature and enjoyed learning. She loved (almost) all kinds of music, and revered science. She was a passionate advocate for women's health and civil rights, and a long-time supporter of many civic organizations, including Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union. Above all else, she was a deeply spiritual Christian who, throughout her life, remained steadfast in her love of the Lord.
She is survived by her son, Tremayne Williams of West Hartford, her daughter, Andrea Williams of West Hartford, her daughter Jennai Williams and husband Thomas Kubic of Weston; and her beloved granddaughter, Nora Kubic, also of Weston. She also leaves behind brother Galen Davis of West Hartford; brother Shaune Hemphill of Winnsboro, SC; sister Cheri Caldwell of Durham, NC; close cousins Dawn Dumas of Windsor and Sunny Denise Dumas of Windsor Locks and Kenneth Littmon of Bronx, NY and lifelong sister-friend Anita Ford Saunders, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
There will be a meet and greet on Friday, September 6, 10:00AM at Hopewell Baptist Church, 280 Windsor Ave., Windsor, CT with funeral services following at 11:00AM. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that gifts be made in Kim's honor to one of her favorite nonprofits, Planned Parenthood. You can mail checks to: Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, 345 Whitney Avenue, New Haven CT 06511, or make a donation online using the following link: www.weareplannedparenthood.org/a/give_ppsne

May the Almighty God grant the family strength and comfort during this difficult time. I remember Kim when she and my sister Sarah were young. She was a sweet young girl loving life and having fun. Many prayers sent to the family.
