Kim Taylor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. - Utica on Dec. 12, 2025.
UTICA – Kim Monique "Platinum" Taylor, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in the comfort and dignity of her home.

Born in the Bronx, NY, on January 15, 1975, Kim was the daughter of Gene C. Taylor, Sr. and the late Anita (Boyd) Taylor. She grew up and attended school in her hometown before moving to Utica in 1998 to begin the next chapter of her life. She then had the opportunity to further her studies at higher-learning institutions.

Kim and Aaron Hurst, who first met in high school, shared a relationship that brought two children into their lives.

Kim's professional path was as vibrant as she was. She began working in at Head Start program, which inspired her to open a day care service in her home. Many would remember her in this community as a driver for City Cab-music turned up, pulling off with enthusiasm, sometimes before she even knew the destination! She also ran Platinum Catering and More, serving parties and dinners; she cooked from scratch, poured love into every dish, and treated everyone she served like family. Kim was known to be feisty and bold, never one to hold her mouth.

Kim was outgoing and loved music and dancing. She was a whiz at the regular two-step and could always hear the beat. She enjoyed traveling, always on the road to her destinations. She was often heard saying, "keep it moving!" A fashionista, Kim was always looking her best. She dressed impeccably and wore high-heeled shoes every chance she got. She was a hard worker, playful, a jack of all trades.

As a mother, Kim was the provider and a guiding force, serious about her children's education and ensuring they learned many skills. When she wanted their attention, like every mother, she would call them by both their first and middle names. Kim was especially excited when her grandchildren arrived, and their presence softened her in all the right ways. They lovingly called her Grandma Kim, and she encouraged them to try new things, explore, and learn a little bit of everything. Kim enjoyed the life she lived, and her family was proud of all she accomplished.

Kim is survived by her father, Gene C. Taylor, Sr.; her daughters, Aarisha "Risha" Hurst and Alexhandero "Alex" Rivera, and Quazhane "Nae Nae" Taylor and D'Angelo Thomas. Forever in her heart was the memory of her son, William St. Michael, who became an angel in 1995. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Quameer G. Taylor, and D'Naree M. Thomas; her siblings, Gene C. Taylor, Jr., Corey Taylor, Taneisha Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, and Kiyana Taylor; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her memorable comrades, Chantel, DJ, and BI, and Tammy.

A Memorial Gathering in Kim's honor will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Those unable to attend may be present virtually at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89377630148. A final blessing will be offered at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
