Kimberly Bedingfield Obituary

Kimberly Joan (Mackin) Bedingfield "Kimmy", 67, of Brandenburg, Ky, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Kim was born on November 4, 1957, in Bloomington, Indiana.

Kim is survived by her devoted husband, Kent Bedingfield; her loving sons, Aaron Bedingfield and Adam Bedingfield; and her cherished grandson, Eli. She also leaves behind her mother, Mary Joyce Schmalz (Rich); her siblings, Cindy Byrd (Wayne), Danny Mackin (Karen), Michael Kevin Mackin (Rhonda), and Shawn Neal (Tim); and countless nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Mackin, and father, Norman Louis "Norm" Mackin.

A longtime resident of Doe Valley, Kentucky, Kim was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones. She always put others before herself, a trait that defined her both personally and professionally.

Kim graduated from PRP High School in Louisville, KY, in 1975 and went on to further her education at Eastern Kentucky University. Shortly after graduating, she embarked on a lifelong career as a registered nurse. She dedicated her skills and compassion to patients at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, Southend Medical Center, and for the last 25 years before retiring, the Georgia Chaffee Teenage Parent Program (TAPP) in Louisville, KY. Known affectionately as "Mrs. B.," she poured her heart into countless young mothers and babies who trusted her with their care.

A master storyteller and spinner of tall tales, Kim was the sunshine in the lives of all who knew her. She was the favorite aunt, the queen of the belly-laughs, the life of every Christmas party, the architect of living room blanket forts, and the leader of Bo-Derek beach adventures. She cherished countless beach memories, Class of '75 BFF adventures, Wizard of Oz marathons, and moments of unfiltered joy. As she follows the yellow brick road, this time to the real streets of gold, we remember her with laughter, love, and gratitude.

Her family and friends wish God-speed to her on her new heavenly journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her zeal for life, and the amazing way that she made each person she came in contact with feel loved and valued. She made a difference in the lives of many, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of those she loved. . Because of Jesus, there are no goodbyes...only high fives, fist bumps, and "until we meet agains."
