Kimberly Kay Brackett Zurita
January 21, 1969 – August 23, 2025
On August 23, 2025, Kimberly Kay Zurita passed away peacefully in Arvada, Colorado, at the age of 56, following a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Pedro, known as Ricky, and her stepdaughter and husband, Karina and Jake Steiner. Kim is lovingly remembered by Kiley, Tanner, and Tyler—the children of her former husband, Chris Manning. She is survived as well by her siblings, Debbie, Sheila, and Robert, and by her three beloved grandchildren: Cash, Kennedy, and Beau.
Born in Vallejo, California to Freeman Calvin (known as Bob) and Yvonne Mary Brackett, Kimberly grew up in Napa, California and graduated from Vintage High in Napa. Upon moving to Colorado she worked as service manager at JC Penney’s and then as a realtor. She graduated from Pima Medical Institute as a respiratory therapist and then worked at Intermountain Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette for 10 years.
She embraced life with energy and joy. She had a passion for movement—whether she was dancing, playing tennis, running marathons, or hiking and climbing Colorado’s majestic 14ers.
Her deep love for others shone brightest through her unwavering service and generosity. She formed lasting friendships with ease, always meeting others with kindness and compassion—especially those in need. Her home and her heart were always open, offering warmth, support, and a true sense of belonging.
Kimberly was married to Ricky in the Denver Colorado Temple in 2005. She enjoyed serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had callings in Young Women and Relief Society. For the last six years she served with her husband in the Arvada Branch. She enjoyed attending the temple and went regularly.
We deeply feel the loss of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend—her absence leaves an ache in our hearts that words cannot fully express.
We are deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers whose compassion and care brought comfort to Kimberly and our family during her final days.
A funeral service will be held Friday August 29 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Arvada Stake Centre (7080 Independence Street Arvada Colorado).
7577 W. 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO 80003
