Kimberly Dotson

Kimberly Shavaughn Dotson 51, of Farmington, New Mexico went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her children after a hard-fought battle with cancer on December 15, 2025. Kim was born June 8, 1974, in Albuquerque, NM to Larry Jones and Charlotte Horsley. She was also blessed to have an amazing bonus father, Ernest Doty (Lori) whom she considered her “Dad”.

Kim was a jack of all trades, that is until she found her calling as a nurse. She traveled back and forth to Albuquerque to attend classes, putting in tireless hours upon hours until graduating in 2015. She was a charge nurse in the Emergency Department at San Juan Regional, where she got to work with her daughter Ali for a few years. When tragedy struck our family and she lost her husband she could no longer go back to nursing, instead she opened a stained-glass shop with her mom. There they made beautiful pieces, taught classes, and brought people together with art.

She was an amazing mom, not only to her own kids but to all the kids. Everyone called her mama Kim; she held that title proudly. She’d often say her kids were her greatest accomplishment and made sure everyone knew that. She loved and welcomed everyone into her home as she knew no stranger, she had a contagious smile and a very loving personality. To know Kim was knowing you had a friend, a sister, an aunt, a noni or a mother who loved you and would go to the ends of the earth for you.

Kimberly was preceded in death by her late husband Robert Dotson, her father Larry Jones, and her son Coltin Dotson. Kimberly is survived by her boyfriend Joseph Gomez, her mother Charlotte Horsley (Richard), her brother Jimmy Jones (Correne Jones; Tyler). Her daughter Alexandria Barela (Joel; Mia) sons Maxwell Jojola (Alyxandrea; Garrett, Granger) and Zachary Mora-Dotson, daughter Julia Dotson and son Brandan Dotson (Taylor; Ashlynn, Jalynn)

The memorial service to celebrate Kim’s life will held be on Saturday January 24th, at 11am at The Potter’s House Church at 4200 College Blvd, Farmington, New Mexico. The service will be immediately followed by a reception at the San Juan College Henderson Fine Arts Building for family and friends.
