Miss Kimberly Michelle Powell, 34, of Elberton, GA, passed away tragically on Friday, October 4, 2024, at her residence.

Born in Lawrenceville on September 23, 1990, Kimberly moved to Elberton during the summer of 1997. She graduated from Elbert County Comprehensive High School with the class of 2009, and enjoyed playing basketball during her middle and high school career.

A hard worker, Kimberly previously worked at BMW in Greenville, SC and for the United States Post Office in Greer, SC. She was a licensed tax agent and a licensed insurance salesperson. Kimberly found her niche in the cable industry when she obtained employed with USIC in Greenville, SC, a company that specializes in underground utility location and damage prevention. As a result of her skills and hard work, she was sought out by Bigham Cable Construction, Inc. in Piedmont, SC where she was currently employed as their Quality Control Manager. Her determination led her to greatly improve the quality control department with two software programs that she built and implemented.

Kimberly was an advocate for self-love, and never missed an opportunity to work out, especially with her Zumba girls. Her life’s mission was to help others, and she did so selflessly all of her life. Kimberly’s favorite color was purple and she loved sunflowers.

She is survived by her son and the love of her life, Liam Wrayvin Powell; parents, Amanda Sue “Amy” Turner Brown and William Wray Brown of Elberton; siblings: Eli Powell and his fiancé Brittany Taylor of Elberton, Tabitha Chappell and her husband Greg of Buchanan, and Wesley Brown of Elberton; grandparents: Shirley Powell of Bethlehem, Grady and Darlene Turner of Blue Ridge, and Richard Ballentine of Elberton; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Kevin Scott Powell; and grandparents: Keith Powell and Virginia Ballentine.

A time of visitation celebrating Kimberly’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 9, from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. The family requests everyone to come as you are; Kimberly would want everyone comfortable. A private graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park where Kimberly will be buried with her grandmother.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be directed to the Kimberly Powell Memorial Fund at Northeast Georgia Bank to assist with Liam’s future needs.
