Kimberly Kaye Reischling

Kimberly Kaye Reischling, aged 68, of Murrells Inlet, passed away on October 31, 2024.
Born on July 20, 1956, Kim dedicated herself to her family and to making a difference in her community. Even after retirement, she volunteered her time and talent to the Palmetto Literacy Council in Myrtle Beach, where she tutored children in reading while fostering a deep commitment to growing the organization's reach and in fundraising.
Kim graduated from Northwestern State University of Louisiana with a bachelor's degree in English. As a committed mother, wife, and student, she managed her educational responsibilities while raising three children and supporting a military household. Her career began at the Fort Polk Army Installation Newspaper, the Guardian, where she quickly ascended from a staff writer to a Public Affairs Officer and later a Command Information Officer for JROTC. Kim's dedication to her role and her exceptional writing skills earned her multiple Department of Defense Thomas Jefferson awards and many installation-wide accolades.
She retired in June 2022 after losing her husband Frank and moved to Murrells Inlet to be closer to loved ones.
Kim is survived by her daughters, Rachel Reischling and Katie Kapotsy; son-in-law, Michael; father, Roland Brendel; siblings Barbara Reynolds and Tom Brendel; and grandchildren, Kaanon, Ella, Hazel, and Jaxon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Reischling; mother, Marilyn Parsche; and stepson, Frankie R. Reischling.
She was the best of mothers and a heroine to her daughters. She loved as deeply as anyone can love.
A memorial service will be held at Burroughs Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet on Saturday, November 9, at 11 am.
