Kimberly Ann “Kimmy” Thompson, 67, of Lacon Illinois, died on December 6, 2023 at OSF Saint Francis in Peoria. Born on March 19, 1956 to the late Joan Reynolds Morgan she married Richard “Shep” Thompson on November 6, 1976 in Lacon. Shep died on January 13, 2012.
Kimmy is survived by her fiancé John Sloma of Lacon; sisters, Vicki (John) Divelbiss of Lacon, Cathy (Alan) McCully of Lacon; brother Michael (Connie) Morgan of Chillicothe, nieces Terri (Michael) Lambrecht of Lacon, Dara Wagner of Chillicothe, MacKenzie (James) Pryor of Thatcher Arizona, Megan Benson of Mequon Wisconsin; nephews Patrick (Lynsey) Morgan of Berthoud Colorado, Charles (Lisa) McCully of Normal Illinois; and 19 great nieces and nephews; and John's daughter Heather (Jim) Weber of Tipton, Iowa. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather Don Myers, mother Joan Myers, nephew Tim Divelbiss, and baby brother John.
Kimmy was always there for her family, she loved spending time with family & friends. She had a great love of animals, she had a caring nature, and a kind word for everyone that new her and always there to listen. Kimmy enjoyed going on road trips and trying new restaurants.
Kimmy worked as the receptionist and new accounts specialist at The First National Bank in Lacon for 44 years, retiring in 2019. She was the second longest serving employee at the bank. She volunteered her time after retirement to the Lacon public library board.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a visitation will be held Friday, December 15 from 4 to 6 PM at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon. A private family service will be held, and burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lacon. memorials can be in Kimmy's memory to the Lacon Sparland Ambulance and Lacon Public Library, online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com. The family would like to thank the Lacon Sparland Ambulance for their prompt response and exceptional care.
