Chapel Hill Funeral Home & Crematory - Sioux FallsKip Jerome Steinberg (John Pollman) was born on February 24, 1944 to Samuel Pollman, Sr. and Bertha (Wipf) Pollman at home near Bridgewater, SD. The Lord called him home and he passed peacefully on September 19, 2025 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Kip’s journey with cancer was strengthened through a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. He said that Jesus was his shield to give him support throughout the battle and Jesus provided him love, grace, comfort and blessings.
Kip recognized the need for Christ and accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a teenager while attending a revival tent meeting in Dolton, SD. Upon his recommitment of faith, Kip was baptized on April 20, 2025 by Pastor Jayson Whittrup at Risen Hope Baptist church in Sioux Falls. He was grateful to be part of a wonderful church community and attended as long as he was able. He fostered many friendships and received lots of love and support.
Kip led an interesting life. He traveled, worked and lived many places. Along his journeys, he met many famous people and experienced life to the fullest. His love for people and charismatic charm developed many lifelong friendships. He had a loving attitude and was generous and giving. He held a special place in his heart for his mother who he turned into a jet setting traveler and gave her a taste of his extraordinary experiences. Kip returned to his roots after his endeavors to be closer to family and care for his mother. His stories and legacy will live on as fond memories with all the people he touched with his kindness.
Kip is preceded in death by his parents, sister Bertha (Willard) Becker, sister Bernice (Dale) Fincher, brother Samuel (Shirley) Pollman, Jr., and brother Joseph Pollman. Kip is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Beverly (Byron) Schulke of Ames, IA, sister-in-law Alice Pollman of Sioux Falls and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
