Kirk Cheda Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duggan's Mission Chapel on Mar. 6, 2026.
Kirk Cheda, 63, of Petaluma, passed away suddenly on March 3, 2026.

Raised in Point Reyes, California by Vernon Cheda and Mary Ann Cheda, Kirk carried his West Marin roots with him throughout his life. He graduated from Tomales High School in 1980 and went on to continue his education at the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science.

Kirk dedicated many years to the funeral profession, serving his community as a funeral director in Sonoma County. Through his work, he guided countless families through some of their most difficult moments with compassion, professionalism, and care. His commitment to helping others during times of loss was a defining part of his life and something he took great pride in.

Outside of his work, Kirk found joy in simple pleasures and time spent with loved ones. He especially loved trout fishing at Donner Lake, traveling to Hawaii, playing guitar to his beloved dog Mikka, and enjoying a good cocktail among family and friends.

Above all, Kirk treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, LuAnn Cheda; his children, Emily Cheda (Calvin Head), Carole Cheda (Eddie Stockand), and Riley Cheda; and his granddaughter, Palmer Stockand. He is also survived by his father, Vernon Cheda, and his sister, Michelle Cheda.

Kirk was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Cheda; his son, Cody Cheda; and his brother, Kevin Cheda.

Kirk will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his community, and the profession to which he devoted so many years. His legacy of care, service, and compassion will live on in the lives he touched.

Services will be held on Friday March 13 at 10:30am.
