Paul Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duggan's Mission Chapel on Feb. 19, 2026.
Paul Clayton Thomas passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2026, with his wife by his side and surrounded by the love and prayers of family and friends.

Paul was born on April 9, 1959, in Renton, WA. He grew up in the San Jose area and graduated from Del Mar High School in 1977. After earning a degree in Fire Science from Mission College, he began a distinguished 26-year career with the South San Francisco Fire Department. He retired in 2009 as a Captain, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.

In retirement, Paul devoted his time to restoring vintage cars and antique motorcycles. Harley-Davidson motorcycles were his true passion, and he meticulously restored models dating from 1917 through the present day. He was an active member of the Yerba Buena Antique Motorcycle Club of America, where he enjoyed participating in club events, sourcing rare parts from around the world, and organizing and joining rides across the country.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Billings Thomas; his children from his first marriage, Ross (Wendy) Thomas, Kathryn (Kevin Wieman), and Tara Thomas; and his stepchildren, Justin (Stephanie) Santero, Brianna (Patrick Bailey), and June Grey. He was a loving and devoted Grandpa to Aislyn, Papa to Clayton and Ryan, and step-grandfather to Halle and Hudson.

He is also survived by his parents, Thomas and Jean (Buzzy) Thomas; his siblings, Nancy Schwerin, Patrick (Sandy) Thomas, Beth (David) Nagengast, and Michael (Elizabeth) Thomas; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Paul's positive spirit was an inspiration to many. His motto, "I'll just put on my 10-year hat," carried him through 18 years as a cancer survivor, reflecting his strength, resilience, and enduring optimism. He brought light and love into the lives of all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church, 469 Third Street, Sonoma.
