Pembroke- Kirk Alan McElroy, age 66 passed away Monday, August 12, 2024. Kirk was born in Lansing, MI to Mr. Allen McElroy and the late Julia Alush McElroy. He recently returned to work with Central Services at Savannah Christian Preparatory School. Kirk often remarked that this was his dream job. He loved the work, and the students and faculty. He had retired two years prior as the athletic fields supervisor for SCPS and was very proud of the gorgeous fields he helped nurture along with the Lord’s assistance. Mr. McElroy loved fixing complex or simple things involving mechanics, loved gardening, and was an avid fisherman. Kirk was such a giving and helping man and continued to do so upon his death with organ donation. In addition to his mother, Kirk was preceded in death by his son, Dallas McElroy; his brother, Todd McElroy and one sister, Julie Schanner.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Karen Sheehan McElroy of Pembroke; his sons; Max (Esmeralda) of Pembroke and Michael McElroy of Savannah; his daughter, Megan Kavanagh (Chris) of Pembroke; his father Allen McElroy and his wife, Joyce of Perry, GA, two granddaughters, Layla and Mary, a beloved aunt, Janet Templeton and her husband, Harry of Hudson, FL, a niece and several nephews.
