Kirk Rayfield Meyer passed away at his home in Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the age of 73. Kirk, the son of Rayfield and Vivian (Jolin) Meyer, was born on March 18, 1951, in Sioux City. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Catholic Schools and Central High School. After moving to the Denver, Colorado area, he graduated high school there before returning to Sioux City.

Kirk was a skilled glazer, dedicating his career to working with several different glass companies. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his dedication to his union, where he was very active throughout his career. Kirk was known not only for his craftsmanship but also for his engaging personality; he was a jokester with a signature laugh that brought joy to those who knew him. He was sharp-minded and personable, always making friends wherever he went.

Throughout his life, Kirk shared a wonderful journey with his wife, Inez M. (Tompkins) Meyer. Their union was blessed with one son, Karlton "Karl" Meyer.

Kirk's love for hunting and skeet shooting allowed him to pursue his passions while gaining recognition, as he won several awards in these pursuits. Additionally, he was widely known in the Siouxland community for growing and selling sweet corn.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Inez Meyer; son, Karl Meyer; father, Rayfield Meyer; and sister, Denise and her husband, Lon Zeigler. In addition, he is survived by many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian (Jolin) Meyer; sister, Cindy; and brother, Craig.

A visitation in honor of Kirk will take place on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, IA, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. This will be followed by a memorial service at the same location starting at 10:30 AM, allowing friends and family to come together to celebrate Kirk's impactful life.
