Christopher Perry "Kit" Getchell, 53, beloved husband, father, brother and son, of Lipan, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends. Kit was born on September 4, 1971, in San Diego, California.
Kit lived a life full of purpose, faith, and love. On May 28, 1994, he married the love of his life, Cindy Mills, beginning a partnership built on devotion and shared dreams.
Kit was a man of many passions. He enjoyed ranching, hunting and fishing, finding so much joy as a captain for the Lipan Fishing Team. He dedicated 22 years to his community as a volunteer with the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department, embodying the spirit of service and selflessness.
A true friend and mentor, Kit had a gift for making everyone feel like family. He never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. His unwavering faith in his Lord Jesus Christ guided his life. He was driven, hardworking and a visionary when it came to his work. His motto was "Your Dream. Our Job". Kit found happiness in the simplest of things, often saying he "loved working in the dirt".
Kit's legacy is one of kindness, dedication and an unshakable commitment to his loved ones and community. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
Kit is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy; son, Hunter Mills; niece Chrissy Mills; father, Richard "Dick" Getchell and wife Megg; brother, Shawn Getchell and wife Loretta; sisters Brittany Gocus and husband Ross, Kristen Wise and husband Kevin; and Angel May and husband Lee; stepfather Mark Donithorne; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and special friends.
Kit was proceeded in death by his mother, Karen Donithorne; niece, C.J. Mills; and granddad and grandmother, Al and Edwina Getchell.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Harris Methodist and Medical City for their compassionate care. A special thanks to all his friends who continually supported him, especially his dear friends and brothers in Christ, Kevin Kolb and Bryson Adams.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 1 PM, with a visitation beginning at 11 AM at Stonewater Church, 911 East Highway 377, in Granbury.
