Kreyhbel Rae Niesen, 81, of Manistee, Michigan passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and her loving husband of 62 years, on December 17, 2022.
Krey was born December 10, 1941, to the late Clarence Edward Olson and Dorothy Mae Grace Ware. She graduated in 1959 from Onekama High School. She married John Harlan Niesen on July 9, 1960, at the Lutheran Church in Norwalk, Michigan.
First and foremost, Krey loved her family. She was one of the most patient people you could meet and always made time to talk and listen to the people she loved and people she met. She was a creative spirit, a great cook, bread baker, and seamstress, building many special outfits, Halloween costumes, and heirloom Christmas decorations for her family. Krey was an avid reader, flower gardener, and amateur nature photographer. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, telling stories, taking pictures, playing games, and laughing until late into the night.
She is survived by her husband, their eight children and spouses, Julie (Robert) Stradt, Matthew (Heather) Niesen, Jennifer Petzak, Kristine Ferry, Katherine Lindeman, Deborah Schneider, Susan (Gary) Nielsen, Rebecca (James) Fitzell, twenty one grandchildren: Daniel (Samantha) Niesen, Christopher Petzak, Jessica Niesen, Jaclyn (Kirt) Harold, Stephanie (Spence) Teasley, Zachary Lindeman, Elliot (Jessica) Hallett, Brittany Evans, Violet Schneider, Nicholas Hallett, Janelle Petzak, Katie Evans, Annalise Petzak, Jonathan Petzak, Matthew Otis, Sela Fitzell, Kebe Fitzell, Jordan (Brittany) LaPoint, Kristen (Perry) Stradt-Johnson, Thomas LaPoint, Joseph (Hailey) Stradt; and nine great-grandchildren: Hunter Niesen, Kenyon Cook, Riley Niesen, Kendall Cook, Penelope Niesen, Margo Teasley, Louis Teasley, Morgan LaPoint, and McKinzie LaPoint.
Krey is also survived by her brother, David Olson, and sisters, Sandy (Donald) Feldhak, Sylvia Harju, Jo Olson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters- and brother-in-law, Edward Olson, Darwin (Pat) Olson, Duane (Pat) Olson, Bruce Olson, Daniel Olson, Elwyn Harju, and Jean Olson.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
