Krishna “Kris” Prasad Sr., 80, passed away March 15, 2024 in St. Louis, MO.

At the age of 21, Kris left his native home of Nadi, Fiji and traveled halfway across the globe in search of the American dream. Arriving in St. Louis with only a dime in his pocket, he enrolled in a training program to become a diesel mechanic. Life in a new country offered many challenges and there were times when Kris wanted to return home until he met Connie, his wife of 57 ½ years.

Kris was a people person and quickly realized his first career choice was not for him. With his friendly demeanor and desire to help people, Kris began his life long career in life insurance sales where he consistently performed as a top agent. He earned many awards and accolades in his profession which gave Kris and Connie the opportunity to travel to many places around the US and beyond.

Kris defined himself by his pride in his family. One of his meaningful accomplishments was the ability to sponsor entry to the US for one brother and two of his sisters from Fiji. He was happy to open this doorway to help them achieve a better life. Kris felt most successful when everyone in his family was doing well.

Kris was a loving father and a doting grandfather. Even though his children and grandkids were spread outside of St. Louis, the distance did not prevent him from being a solid part of their birthdays, school accomplishments and other achievements. Kris took great delight in watching his family grow and prosper.

Kris was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his brother Ramesh (Kala) Prasad, his sister Madhu (Jai) Karan, his beloved wife Connie, son Krishna Jr. (Lisa), daughter Meena (Jeff) Gartland, and six grandchildren Cameron, Claire, Esmé, Chloe, Cambelle, and Anjay. He was a dear uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and friend to many more.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners’ Childrens’ Hospital and the Hindu Temple of St. Louis.
