Krista Scheel Obituary

Krista Kay Scheel left this world enriched and enlightened by her presence on December 2, 2023. Born on January 6, 1973 in Washington to Bobbie and the late Ben Gojenola, Krista grew into a woman of kindness and dedication, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of crossing her path.
Krista's academic journey began at Western Washington University, where she earned her bachelor's degree, a testament to her commitment to personal growth and lifelong learning. Her thirst for knowledge took her to the University of Nevada-Reno, where she continued to expand her horizons and prepare for a future of service and leadership.
Her professional life was a reflection of her innermost values, as Krista dedicated herself to the noble cause of supporting those affected by Alzheimer's as a Program Director at the Alzheimer's Association. Her work was not just a job; it was a mission, one that she carried out with grace and compassion, becoming a pillar of hope and a source of comfort for many families.
Krista's interests were as diverse as her talents. From the soccer field to the tranquility of her garden, from her love for animals to cheering on her favorite sports teams, she embraced life with a fervor that was contagious. Her passion was a reminder to us all that joy can be found in the simplest of activities, and that our hobbies are not just pastimes, but threads in the tapestry of our unique stories.
Family was the cornerstone of Krista's world. She was a loving wife of 20 years to her husband, Matt. A devoted daughter to Bobbie and the late Ben Gojenola, a beloved sister to Robin (Jerry) Willey, and a treasured aunt to Lee and Evan Lindsay. Krista was also a cherished daughter-in-law to Mary and the late Jerry, and a dear sister-in-law to Mark (Mary Ann) Scheel, Stephanie Sidow, Heather (Doug) Hinson, and Keith (Cathy) Scheel. Krista will also be missed by her aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. Her role in her family was not defined merely by these titles, but by the love, guidance, and laughter she shared with each one of them.
In remembering Krista, we are reminded of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Krista embodied this sentiment, leaving a legacy of success measured not in material wealth or accolades, but in the lives she touched and the hearts she warmed.
Krista inspired those around her to strive for a life filled with purpose and generosity. Her wisdom was a guiding light, her thoughtfulness a comfort, and her loving nature a warm embrace to all.
As we celebrate Krista's life, let us carry forward the lessons she imparted through her actions and her character. Let us find strength in our memories of her and continue to live by the example she set-a life lived with courage, care, and boundless love.
Krista's journey on earth may have reached its sunset, but the dawn of her impact is everlasting. Her story does not end here; it is carried in the hearts of those she loved, in the work she accomplished, and in the better world she envisioned and helped to create. Krista would likely remind us that every ending is also a beginning, and in her honor, we begin anew, emboldened by her spirit and guided by her memory.
A celebration of Krista's life will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home in Franklin, Wisconsin, on January 6, 2024 from 10 am until 1 pm with words of remembrance at 1 pm.
A second celebration of Krista's life will be held in Washington in Summer, 2024 at a time and place yet to be determined.

I will always remember her radiant smile in class. She had such energy, coupled with wit and kindness, that she has left her glowing impression on me after even over 30 years.

My first memory of Krista was from 1st grade. She was one of my first friends from school that lived in the neighborhood. Thank you for being a part of my life for 45 years.
