Our loving sister, aunt, great aunt, friend passed away June 30, 2025. She was born on May 28, 1970 in Huntington, West Virginia to Lester and Mary Rusk. Kristie was born with spina bifida leaving her paralyzed from the waste down, with a short life expectancy.
Kristie never let her handicap stop her from doing and trying things.
Kristie graduated from Simi Valley High in 1988, then attended Moorpark College. Started working at Xypro in 1987 while in high school and stayed at that job for around 30 years then started a job at Sport Court, where she worked several years before retiring in 2024.
Kristie is survived by her brother, Jeff (Michelle) Rusk, sister, Carol (Rodger) Johnson, nieces, Stephanie Roberts and Megan (Mike) Shoop and great nephew Shawn Roberts, uncle, John Rusk, cousins across the country, also special wonderful friends including Tom Hodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Leslie Doreen Rusk.
Kristie was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings and areas of the church, her favorite callings involved working with the youth. Kristie lived in Barboursville WV until moving in 1983 to Simi Valley, CA. She made many close friends in WV and CA. Kristie never met a stranger, everyone who met Kristie loved her. Kristie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved her dog Chad and recently her cat Pepita. Kristie loved watching ice skating, supercross, football, local softball, winter Olympics. Loved 80’s music, movies and clothes. Her life was full of achievements including driving, living on her own and many more.
Kristie loved life and never let her disability stop her.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 19th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Erbes building at 11am, 1600 Erbes Rd., Thousand Oaks.
Burial will follow at Pierce Brothers Cemetery 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd, Westlake Village, CA.
