Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Jan. 3, 2023.
Kristina Lynch Wiggins, a longtime Tallahassee resident, was a deeply devoted mother, friend, community member, and public servant. The Lord called her home suddenly and unexpectedly on December 18, 2022. She was 48. Kristina was born August 19, 1974, in
Manhasset, NY, the daughter of the late Alfred "Al" Lynch and Mae Adele (Rowehl) Lynch.
When Kristina was 5, her family moved to
Ormond Beach, FL, where she attended Catholic schools, graduating from Father Lopez High School. While in high school, Kristina worked as a cast member at Disney World, where she played Pluto and Eeyore, and her love for the magic of Disney never waned.
Kristina attended the University of North Florida, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Literature and a Masters of Public Administration. In 1998, made Tallahassee her home, becoming an active member of the Junior League of Tallahassee, serving on its executive board and later becoming a sustaining member. She was known for her drive and commitment on the League's many community service initiatives. She will be deeply missed by her many friends who remember her energy and enthusiasm. She loved North Florida and could be found kayaking, hiking, camping, at the beach or the Red Hills Horse Trials taking in its natural beauty.
Her Masters of Public Administration kindled a lifetime passion for service. Her desire to serve the state and people of Florida led her to a distinguished public service career, serving in important senior leadership positions in Florida state government. She was a committee staffer in both the House and Senate. Her legislative experience later led to her appointment as Deputy Secretary at the Florida Department of Health by Florida Governor Rick Scott.
Kristina later served as Chief of Staff of the Agency for State Technology and Executive Director of the Florida Public Defenders Association, where her compassion and experience made her a valuable voice for justice. In her last position, Kristina served as Operations Director of Tallahassee Community College.
While her career as a distinguished public servant fulfilled her professional ambitions, her profound love for her children, Katherine and Gavin was her defining passion. Her steadfast devotion to Katherine and Gavin was unparalleled and will survive her passing in the hearts of all who knew her.
Kristina encouraged their love of both academics and sports. As a highly devoted volleyball mom to Katherine when she played for Leon High School and a basketball mom to Gavin, Kristina loved seeing her wonderful children showing leadership and teamwork on and off the court. Despite this profound loss, her friends and family are comforted to know she'll lovingly watch over Katherine and Gavin from above as they grow into adulthood.
As an active Trinity United Methodist Church member for more than 20 years, Kristina's faith gave her a sense of purpose, comfort, and fellowship. She treasured a group of close friends in Bible study, and over two decades, they grew in faith together and shared happiness, sorrow, and the challenges and joy of friendship and family life.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 11 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church at 120 West Park Avenue,
Tallahassee, FL 32301. Those who cannot attend may view the service at https://youtu.be/3OWEySw8Id4
