Kristopher Miller Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory - West Odessa on Sep. 13, 2024.
Kristopher "Kris" Douglas Miller, cherished husband, father, son, uncle, cousin & friend, went through the gates of Heaven on September 8, 2024. Born on February 4th, 1989 in Lubbock, Texas, he was the unexpected twin on the scene.
Kris's early years were spent in his hometown of Lamesa, Texas, and were filled with West Texas football, 4-H and FFA traditions. Kris enjoyed spending time with his brother and grandfather on the goat farm, hanging out with friends, and playing sports of all kinds for Klondike High School. He was his older sister's fierce protector, and watched over Kenzi even when they moved on to college together at Sul Ross University in Alpine.
A man dedicated to his family, Kris is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Miller, as well as his parents Jene and Michael McClain. His legacy continues through his sons and their families, Aaron (Bekah) Briswalter, Isaiah (Amanda) Briswalter, Caleb Briswalter and Alyssa Wolfe, David Andrews, Elijah Andrews and James Miller; and his only daughter, his princess girl Selah Miller. Kristopher's life was shaped in the company of his brothers Ken (Julie) Miller and Michael (Evely) McClain, as well as his sister-in-law Cassie (Colby) Randles. His life was a true example of selfless love, which extended to his beloved grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.
Kris was an avid football fan, never missed a Texas Tech or a Kansas City Chiefs game, and was the 2-time reigning champion in his fantasy football league. He loved golf, even though he definitely had some bad days on the golf course, and enjoyed that time with his friends. His love for football was only matched by his love for watching his son James play football and baseball, and he was committed to helping James be the very best he could be as a young man, and a player. Kris enjoyed grilling and cooking meals for his family as often as everyone could get together, and spending time on the water. Water therapy was perhaps his most favorite pastime, and he had just begun planning the next family trip to the Frio River, although he dreamed retiring to North Carolina one after the kids were all grown and gone, where he would work part time at Home Depot, his favorite store, and each night go to the beach to hear the waves and maybe do some fishing.
Kris was most assuredly known across the state of Texas, and a few other states too, for his exceptional work ethic, loyalty and commitment to doing the best job always. Kris's relentless dedication and tenacity were traits that earned him the respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike. His brilliant mind was not just a professional asset, but a gift he shared generously, solving problems with ease and creativity. As a leader, Kris was insistent on ensuring that each of his team had what they needed to be successful, and was diligent to encourage them each step of the way. Some of his best times were spent with "his guys", and several working relationships grew into trusted friendships that he cherished.
Often described as a big teddy bear, with a big bark and an even bigger heart, Kris's spirit and legacy will continue to live on through his children, family and friends. Kris had an enormous capacity for love, and that was evident when he chose Melissa and her five sons, and raised each of them as his own. He taught them everything he knew, and they all recognize the priceless impact he has made on their lives.
Kris's life will be celebrated in a manner that honors the richness of the relationships he cultivated and the profound impact he had on all those around him. As we celebrate Kris's life, we hold tight to the love he gave, the wisdom he shared, and the laughter he inspired. Kris's story is one of love, family, resilience and dedication. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who love him.
A memorial service for Kris will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 20th, 2024 at Crossroads Church in Odessa.
