Kristy Dominguez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, where she was born and raised. Kristy was a vibrant force of nature, known for her kind heart, unwavering strength, and the smile that could light up any room. Born on January 21, 1964, she grew up in Lubbock and attended Cooper High School. For more than 10 years, Kristy dedicated herself to working at Dillard's Department Store. Her commitment to service and her ability to connect with others made her an integral part of the community. Over the years, Kristy developed innumerable friendships that undoubtedly cherished her positive spirit.
A true survivor, she navigated the challenges that life presented her with resilience that inspired those around her. She was a strong woman, and those who knew her will forever hold in their hearts the memories of her warmth and laughter.
Kristy leaves behind her loving husband of 31 years, David Dominguez; daughter, Brandi Shepherd, and her husband James, of Lubbock; mother, Carol Lumpkins of Lubbock; grandchildren, Colton Shepherd and Katie Shepherd; and great-grandson, Grayson Shepherd. She also leaves behind her father-in-law, Joe Dominguez, Sr., brothers-in-law, Bobby and wife Gloria, Ricky, Tony, Raymond and wife Laura, Joel, and Daniel Dominguez; as well as nephews and nieces, Lance, Tyler, Courtney, B.J., Amanda, Marissa, Moriah, Melanie, Raymond, Jr., Mariam, Ricky, Jr., Veronica, and Jacob.
Those who preceded her in death include her father, Charles Lumpkins; sister, Cherisa Pevey; mother-in-law, Gloria Dominguez; and sister-in-law, Esmeralda Dominguez.
A visitation for Kristy will begin at 11:00 am, Monday, August 11, 2025, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
