The Beautiful Life and Legacy of Francies Dunlap

Francies Dunlap, a cherished soul hailing from Shreveport, Louisiana passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on February 2, 1936, she was a beacon of kindness and humor in her community, forever remembered as someone who made every gathering warm and welcoming.

Francies dedicated her life's work to nursing, embodying a spirit of caregiving that touched countless lives until her well-deserved retirement in 2006. Her passion for others was evident not only in her professional endeavors but also in her personal life, where her greatest joy sprang from spending time with her family, particularly during the holiday season, when laughter and togetherness filled every room.

A devoted wife, she shared her life with her beloved husband, William Dean Dunlap, who predeceased her, along with her dear parents, Willie Holmes and Mattie White. Francies also took with her a piece of the hearts of her siblings, Marion Collins, Artheria Collins, Wanda Collins, Nathanal Holmes, Paul Holmes, Bill Holmes, Eddie Holmes, Hoarce Holmes, and Beluah Holmes, and grandchildren Kendrick and Breona Dunlap. Together, they formed a tapestry of support and love that shaped her into the nurturing spirit she was.

Her proudest accomplishments included the beautiful landscaping of her front yard, a reflection of her deep connection to nature. Francies found tranquility in her hobbies, whether she was immersed in the rhythm of gardening, seeking solace in the pages of a good book, or challenging herself with word searches. Each garden sprout and reading passage mirrored the patience and tenderness she offered to everyone around her.

Francies leaves behind her loving children: Artheria Dunlap of Lubbock, Kenneth Wayne Dunlap of Brownwood, Texas, and Donald Ray Dunlap of Lubbock. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives, all of whom hold dear the memories of her infectious laughter and unwavering support. Her children, Michael Dean Dunlap, and Autry Leon Dunlap, who preceded her in death are with her in heaven.

A memorial service honoring Francies's life will be held on January 2, 2025, at Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock, where those she touched can gather to celebrate her remarkable journey. The service, beginning at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM, will serve as a reminder of the love and light she spread throughout her lifetime.

Francies Dunlap's legacy of kindness, her nurturing spirit, and her joyful laughter will forever ripple through the lives she has enriched, leaving an indelible mark that will always be cherished.
