Kristy Crutchfield Garrison

Kristy Raye Crutchfield Garrison passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her husband and children on August 12th, 2024. Kristy was born and raised in Durham, NC. She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Nell Crutchfield; and brother, Curt Crutchfield.
A graduate of UNC-Wilmington, she was a passionate school teacher for the Durham Public School System. She dedicated her life to developing the minds of young children, and proudly retired after thirty years of service at Hope Valley, Eno Valley and Little River Elementary schools. She was a devoted member of the Summit Church and enjoyed volunteering in that community and serving others. She was also a member of the Alpha Mu chapter of ADK, an international honorary organization for women educators. There is nothing Kristy loved more than spending time with her children and husband, Christopher. Kristy loved any and all sporting events, especially when the Carolina Tar Heels were playing and specifically when the Tar Heels were beating Duke.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Christopher Mark Garrison; daughters, Hannah Amato (Eric), and Jenna Palermo (Davis); her favorite son, Zachary Garrison; and her precious dachshunds, Charlie and Riley. Kristy is also survived by her step mother, Clara Ann Crutchfield and siblings, Brad Crutchfield (Dan), Nancy Dail (Greg), and Tim Crutchfield (Michelle) plus an abundance of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude and thanks to Kristy's medical care team, Dr. Lisa Carey, Meredith Maguire and Rachel Pienknagura from both UNC and Duke Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 17th at The Summit Church: 3263 Rose of Sharon Road in North Durham with Pastor Gus Pacheco officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday, August 16th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Clements Funeral Home.
