Kum Sun “Tina” Witcher, 73, passed away on March 14, 2026, after a courageous battle withcancer.
Tina was born on March 17, 1952, in Seoul, South Korea, to Hwang Dong In and Kim JongHawn. She grew up in a large and loving family alongside her two brothers and four sisters,surrounded by extended family and lifelong friendships.
In 1976, Tina moved to the United States, where she began building a life rooted inresilience, hard work, and love. She later welcomed her son, Young, and embracedmotherhood with the same care and devotion that defined her life.
Tina went on to build a remarkable 33-year career as a hair designer. As a Senior ArtisticDesigner and top producer at Hoshell’s for Hair, she was deeply passionate about her work.She earned numerous performance awards throughout her career and traveledinternationally to train with some of the top professionals in the industry.
In 1997, Tina met the love of her life, Stan Witcher, at a local gym. After a playful beginning,Tina took the initiative and invited Stan to her company’s Christmas party—an invitationthat would change both of their lives. Their relationship quickly blossomed into a deep andlasting love, and they were married on August 27, 2001. Together, they blended theirfamilies and built a life centered on love, devotion, and connection.
Tina had a deep love for people, and one of her greatest joys was bringing others together.She loved opening her home to family and friends—whether for holidays, birthdaycelebrations, or simply to cook a meal and spend time with those she cared about. Her homewas a place of warmth, connection, and laughter.
She had a gift for making everyday moments special. Tina was an avid reader, loved Koreanfood, and was always stylishly dressed. She especially cherished the Christmas season,going above and beyond to beautifully decorate her home and tree. She took great care inchoosing thoughtful gifts and wrapping them with elegant paper and bows. She never forgota birthday and always found meaningful ways to celebrate the people in her life.
She also loved staying active and could often be found at the gym, where she built manylasting friendships over the years.
Another of Tina’s favorite pastimes was visiting Thunder Valley Casino with her husband,Stan. There, she joyfully played the machines, celebrated the occasional big win, attendedconcerts, and enjoyed dining at her favorite restaurants. She especially loved sharing theseexperiences—bringing along family and friends to enjoy dinners, shows, and time together.
Tina and Stan also shared a love for travel, especially going on cruises together. Whereverthey went, Tina had a way of connecting with others—often forming instant friendshipswith fellow travelers and spending their vacations together as if they had known each otherfor years.
She was known for her generosity, loyalty, wit, and thoughtfulness. Whether she wascreating personalized birthday cards for friends, working in her yard, or going for a run, shefound joy in both the simple and meaningful moments of life. Her radiant smile could lightup any room, and those around her felt seen, loved, and uplifted in her presence.
More than anything, Tina cherished her role as a grandmother. She loved being called“Grandma,” and her grandchildren brought her immense joy and pride.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother.
Tina is survived by her devoted husband, Stan Witcher; her son, Young Hammack anddaughter-in-law Tara; her stepson, Jason Witcher and daughter-in-law Selene; herstepdaughter, Myndi White and son-in-law Steven; and her seven beloved grandchildren:Alexus, Sasha, Gavin, Skyler, Carter, Hailey, and Jay.
Tina will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength and grace she carried,and the countless lives she touched. If you knew Tina, you felt her love.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM at DestinyChurch, 9470 Micron Ave,
Sacramento, CA 95827. The service will be held in the chapel justinside the West entrance by the fountain and will be followed by a luncheon in thehospitality suite.
Guests are kindly asked to wear pink in honor of Tina.
Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the joyshe brought into every gathering will remain in our hearts forever.
