Kurt Allen Muston

Lieutenant Colonel Kurt Allen Muston, 81, of Bellefonte, died Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Susan F. Hoffman, whom he loved and cherished dearly throughout their many years together. He also leaves behind his son Konrad Rogers (wife Stephanie) and his stepson Matthew McMahon (wife Kelli), and three grandchildren.
Born May 16, 1943, he was the son of the late Thomas and the late Anita (Hogle) Muston. He was also proceeded in death by his sister Gail Farrell and survived by his siter Drue Alvarez. As a military family, Kurt and his siblings lived all over the world as children, and he was truly shaped by his years spent living in Texas and Germany.
He was a proud alum and continued supporter of Texas A&M University.
Kurt followed in the footsteps of his father and joined the military in 1966. He proudly served in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in 1987, after 21 years of dutiful service. His service qualified him to become a member of the American Legion, where he was recognized for his military service.
Following his discharge, Kurt turned to his love of nature and worked as the Park Naturalist at Black Moshannon State Park and spent time as an Environmental Educator at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center, both in Centre County, PA.
After retirement, Kurt and Susan lived a simple and happy life full of love. He enjoyed gardening and bird watching and was an incredible tinkerer, who loved fixing things. Kurt and Susan loved traveling together, creating many cherished memories on their many sailings and adventures. He was affectionately known as "Grandpa" to his dearest family and he will be remembered by them for his kind heart and silly sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
