Kurt Lee Wilson
March 29, 1969 - June 1, 2025
Kurt Lee Wilson was born on March 29, 1969, in Houston, Texas, to Paul and Barbara Wilson. He passed from this life on June 1, 2025, in River Ridge, Louisiana, at the age of 56.
He is survived by his wife, Sheri Wilson; mother, Barbara Wilson; stepchildren, Aaron Poret and wife Marisa, Savanah Steffey and fiance Nicholas Momjian, and Alicyn Steffey; sister, Kari Parker and husband Buddy; granddaughter, Isabel Poret; nephew, Landon Parker; as well as many other loved ones and a host of friends.
Kurt is preceded in death by his father, Paul Wilson.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Livingston. Kurt was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who loved finding ways to support his community. If you were looking for him, chances are he was planning a turkey hunt with Sheri and friends in North Texas or riding around the family deer lease he grew up on.
Kurt proudly served on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Speakers Committee for 10 years, traveling across Texas to speak to school districts about scholarship opportunities. He was also a member of the Brian Perry Memorial Scholarship Organization, helping raise funds for college scholarships for local seniors, and was actively involved in the Trinity Neches Livestock Show, where he served as Vice President for several years- bonding the community through a shared love of agriculture.
He dedicated 27 years to education, all within Livingston ISD, spending most of that time as the Vocational Coordinator. In that role, he worked closely with students to help them prepare to successfully enter the workforce.
Kurt will always be remembered for how he made people feel. It didn't matter where you were, who you were, or what your story was-he was kind, ready to give you the shirt off his back, and always had a silly joke to make you laugh. He loved his family deeply and never missed a chance to brag about their accomplishments. His students will remember him as one of their favorite teachers, who made them laugh, pushed them to do their best, and encouraged them to dream big. His friends and community members will remember him as someone you could always count on for a good conversation and a genuine smile.
A Visitation for Kurt will be held from 9:00-11:00, Friday, June 6, 2025, at First Baptist Church, in Livingston, with a Celebration of his Life to begin at 11:00 with Brad Butler, Officiating.
Interment is to follow at Bold Spring Cemetery, in Livingston, Texas.
Pallbearers: Tracey Kincade, Jeff Allen, Michael Farmer, Mark Currie, Ramey Bass and Sammy Lattner.
Honorary Pallbearers: Whataburger Breakfast Club, Sandy Creek Hunting Club, Buddy Parker, and Landon Parker.
