Kurt Ziebell Obituary

Kurt Ernest Ziebell, 67, of Roseboro passed away on June 29, 2025 due to a heart attack. He was a beloved father, son, brother, and uncle. Kurt's life was full of adventure and humorous experiences that he was more than happy to share.

Kurt was born on May 25, 1958, to Betty McAfee and Peter Ziebell in Boulder, Colorado. At 1 month of age, Kurt and his family relocated to Michigan on a tremendous road trip in an old school bus. Perhaps this sparked a sense of adventure that continued throughout his life. As a young man, on a whim, Kurt decided to hike part of the Appalachian trail. He shared his supplies to other hikers, learned that carrying bottled beer was inefficient (canned beer was a wiser choice), and that fireworks and a big bonfire were good tools to keep hungry animals at bay. Later he purchased an old, wooden yacht that he lived on with Tigger, his large and rambunctious brindle dog. The boat was great for parties and meeting others, but terribly impractical otherwise. These and many other experiences served as a solid foundation for his ongoing love for storytelling.

Kurt had the biggest smile, loudest laugh, and the best story out of everyone in the room. His family remembers him best for his unwavering loyalty, kindness, and generosity, his absolute honesty, and the unconditional love he shared with those he knew.

Kurt is survived by his daughter Virginia, his stepson, Vincent, and his brothers Don and Mike. Kurt is also survived by his nieces Calla, Dezi, Jackie, and Anna. Kurt is now reunited with his sister Jeni, his mother, and his father.

The family will hold a celebration of Kurt's life in the future.

Kurt was larger than life - a true raconteur who loved to laugh and make others laugh. A generous spirit who will certainly make heaven more interesting for everyone.
