Kurtis Boysen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by eCare Mortuary Cremation & Burial - Olympia on Nov. 21, 2025.
Kindness, grace, love of family & gratitude.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Kurtis Andrew Boysen on November 19th, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in the South Bay Community of Olympia, Washington, Kurtis called the Pacific Northwest home.

Kurtis leaves behind his devoted wife, Irene Elizabeth Boysen, with whom he shared an endlessly loving and rare special bond He is survived by his children Cole Boysen, Jacob and Jessica Boysen, Makaila and Frankie Barbella with grandchildren Junior and Lotus, and Sean and Shelly Phillips with grandchildren Aubree, Veda, and Saylor.

He also leaves behind his siblings Brenda Boysen, Karsten and Susie Boysen, Richard and Robin Boysen, and Patrick and Kathy Boysen, along with sister-in-law Suzanne Lipkewicz and many beloved cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicolai Englebert and Irene Elizabeth Boysen, and brother Larry Boysen.

Kurt was an accomplished craftsman and contractor, most known for his creativity in building equine barns and arenas, where he built dreams together with each individual client. His work extended to homes, remodels, and medical facilities throughout the region. Hundreds of his buildings dot the Pacific Northwest, a lasting testament to his skill and dedication. From a young age, Kurt's heart belonged to the equine world across multiple disciplines, with a special place in his heart for cutting horses. He found fulfillment not only in his own horses but in supporting others who shared his passion for these magnificent animals.

Until his final days, Kurt maintained his kindness, grace, and love of family, expressing gratitude for all the blessings he received during his lifetime. He cherished the magic of Pacific Northwest beauty, spending countless hours trail riding with Irene, hiking, gardening, and traveling. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, including great music and watching The Voice with Irene. Kurt was a trustworthy friend and confidant to many, always willing to lend a kind hand or simply listen without judgment. Above all else, his family brought him the greatest joy, especially his beloved grandchildren, and he cherished every precious moment they spent together.

Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00am, Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Lacey Community Center, 6729 Pacific Ave SE, Lacey, WA 98503. Please bring your love, laughs, and memories. Arrangements entrusted to eCare Mortuary in Olympia, WA.
