Kye Johnson Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Oct. 3, 2022.
Kye Rene Johnson was born on 2/8/2001 to William and Amber Johnson and big brother, Robert DeVere, in Midwest City, Ok. He entered into God's eternal love on 9/30/2022. He was a loving little boy who loved to play with his toys. He loved his little action figures of Spider-Man and Batman. He had an odd figure that was dressed in a robe that he dubbed Jesus. Jesus always won the battle of the superheroes. He loved to play legos with his big brother, usually undoing what Robert created! He also loved to play fireman. His Granma made sure he had all the proper "gear". One time, while at his Nana's, a small grass fire started across the street. Kye saw the fire, grabbed his plastic hatchet and proceeded out the front door. His mama stopped him and asked him where he was going, he said he had to help the firemen. This was the first sign of his huge heart and desire to help anyone and everyone and fiercely defend people in any kind of need. As he grew older and entered junior high and high school he continued to champion those who were broken in heart and spirit. He also enjoyed band-especially drums and trumpet, video games, movies, and scuba diving. He found himself an apprenticeship at Sharky's Scuba Shop up the street from his house and proceeded to get certified as a scuba diver. His girlfriend, and love of his life, Madi, and many others were there to see Kye graduate high school underwater, in full cap and gown and scuba gear.
He was truly touched by the movie, THE SHACK when it came out. It moved him to re-enter his high school confirmation class and led to his confirmation in the Catholic Church in 2017. He took the confirmation name of St. Dymphna.
Shortly after his high school graduation, he told his family that he was going to be a dad. He quickly found a job at Medline that offered pay and benefits to support his son. He married Madi and they worked hard to be good parents to Felix and support each other. They named their son Felix, because it meant happiness and they wanted happiness to follow him everywhere.
Kye is survived by his wife Madison Johnson and his son Felix, his mom and dad, William and Amber Johnson, His older brother, Robert Johnson, his wife Katherine and their son, Alex and this December, daughter Elaine Rene, Grampa DeVere Johnson and his wife Lynnette, Aunt Dawne and Uncle Mark McCraw, Aunt Misty Johnson, Aunt Robin Riccardi, Aunt Petra Bartolo, and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by Granma Dorothy Johnson, Papa Robert Thompson, and Nana Elinor Thompson.
His life was too short lived, but his smile will continue to warm our hearts through the memories we will hold so dear. His spirit of fun and laughter will remain with us always through his son, named for happiness, Felix William.
