Kyle Bancroft Obituary

Kyle Cameron Bancroft
In the quietude of March 15, 2024, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, Kyle Cameron Bancroft peacefully departed from this world at his home after he courageously battled Ewing Sarcoma for the last 4 years. Kyle was born and remained in Stamford, CT for his youthful life. He loved, valued and appreciated his family, his dogs Shadow and Violet, his friends, his education, watching any sport with his dad, and, during downtime, playing video games with friends and cousins. Last summer, Kyle was able to enjoy the trip of a lifetime to Ireland with some of his closest friends.
Throughout Kyle's education, he was a perennial honors/high honors student while attending Stamford Public Schools. He received multiple scholarship awards including The Mickey Lione, Jr. Fund, The Susan Fund, Circle of Care and the Junie DeLeo Scholarship Award. Knowing Kyle needed to be close to home due to his illness, after being accepted to all 9 CT colleges in which he applied, he decided to attend Sacred Heart University where he formed many friendships while soldiering through his pain to finish out the Fall 2023 semester. In turn, Kyle earned a position on the Dean's list which spoke volumes to his character and dedication in spite of his illness.
We would be remiss not to mention Kyle's love for baseball. From the early age of 4, Kyle began playing. Baseball was his passion and a sport in which he excelled at striking fear into the hearts of opposing pitchers. Some of his favorite days were on the baseball field doing what he loved, being part of a genuine camaraderie while establishing several everlasting friendships with his teammates and coaches. If Kyle wasn't on the field, he was always talking about baseball. Prior to his diagnosis, his dream was to play for the MLB. Over the years, Kyle played for Stamford North Little League (Springdale Little League), Stamford Rebels Travel, Stamford High School and Stamford Legion Post 3. During the off season, Kyle played basketball for Stamford Peace, JCC Travel and Stamford High School. He also coached a team for Stamford Peace and volunteered for Stamford High School's Unified Sports assisting children with special needs play basketball.
Through Kyle's determination, he achieved so much over the last 19 years, more than many will achieve in a lifetime. He was loved by so many. Everyone that knew Kyle adored him and was impressed with his character. Kyle was valiant, brave, kind, thoughtful, respectful, smart, funny, athletic, a great student, handsome, calm and one of the finest humans you will ever meet. We will always carry Kyle's spirit and memory in our hearts.
Kyle was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Leonard J. Bancroft and three uncles, Leonard Bancroft, Jr., Gary Bancroft and Mark Bancroft. Kyle is survived by his proud and loving parents Lisa (Cameron) and Scott Bancroft and his sister, Chelsey. His maternal grandparents, Patricia and William Cameron of Riverside, aunts and uncles Cathy (Cameron) and James Hylinski of Delray Beach, Florida as well as Suzanne (Cameron) and Glen Messina of New Canaan, CT and many adoring cousins. Kyle is also survived by his paternal grandmother Shirley Bancroft of East Windsor, CT and his aunts and uncles: Jane McCarthy of Watertown CT, Roxanne Bancroft of East Windsor, CT, Wayne (Jennifer) Bancroft of Enfield, CT, Janine Bancroft of East Hartford, CT, Pauline (Gary) Meacham of East Windsor, CT, Lynn Andrews of Somers, CT and cousin.
The family would like to thank Kyle's amazing medical teams at Yale Children's Hospital, Regional Hospice, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Kyle's honor to any of the following organizations: Yale Children's Hospital, Circle of Care, The Umbrella Club, The Charlie Landers Foundation or to Raise the Bar Foundation of Stamford.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated TODAY, Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Saint Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905. The interment will be private.

To Kyles Family.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I did not know him but Suzanne did share a little of his fight and determination. He was deeply loved and respected by so many. He achieved was much in his short life. Although his years in this world were few, his impact of those he loved will be felt for many years to come. Nothing will take away the pain of loss but the good memories will slowly start to outweigh the pain you feel today. God bless you and keep you.

I had the pleasure of knowing Kyle and being a part of his summers for many years. Kyle was a tremendous athlete and most of all a tremendous person. Kyle was competitive while staying kind. Kyle was always a team player and put effort in whether it was something like basketball or something silly like popping balloons for color wars points. I am so lucky to have known him and his family.

Sending Lisa, Scott and Chelsey all my love.
