Memorial services for Kyle Deaton, 54, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Pastor Vernell Bonner and Todd Partin officiating.
Mr. Deaton was born on April 27, 1971, in
Lufkin, Texas, to Carrol Deaton and the late Tena (Holt) Deaton, and passed on December 9, 2025, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of deep love, steady strength, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, "Awesome" grandfather, son, brother, and friend who lived with purpose and heart.
He was known for his easy smile, his humor, and the way he could make any moment lighter with a joke or a well-timed prank. He loved creating things, whether it was a project in his workshop or something printed from his 3-D printer. He had a natural talent for building, solving problems, and imagining new possibilities.
Music was woven through his life. He loved everything from rock to blues to the classic bands that shaped generations. He shared music with the people he loved, whether it was turned up in the truck or playing while he worked in the shop. For his family, certain songs will always carry a piece of him.
Kyle shared a life of adventure with his wife, Kim. Together they traveled, explored, and built a life grounded in love, loyalty, and partnership. Their bond was the kind people search for, built on trust, shared dreams, and deep devotion. He was her partner in every sense, her compass and steady foundation.
He adored his children, and he was equally devoted to his grandchildren, who lovingly called him Awesome. He wore that name with pride. He loved watching them grow, laughing with them, and being part of their world. They were a source of enormous joy in his life, and he was a source of comfort, safety, and delight in theirs.
Those who knew him described his bright smile, joyful spirit, his kindness, and the way he made people feel seen and valued. His loss leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his love, his laughter, and the memories he created will live on in every heart he touched.
Mr. Deaton is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kim Deaton of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Britiany and Donovan Troup of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, Alexander Taylor and Katie Deaton of Lufkin; granddaughter, Amelia Deaton of Lufkin; grandson, Parker Deaton of Lufkin; grandson, Sawyer Deaton of Lufkin; father, Carrol Deaton of Lufkin; sister, Holly Deaton of Athens, Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Rebekah and Chris Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
