L. A. Parker, age 92, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful friend passed away Monday, March 9, 2026 in Ft. Worth. Lonzie Albert Parker, Jr. was born on March 30, 1933 in Crockett, Texas to Lonzie Albert Parker, Sr. and Lillie Mae Orange Parker. He experience an enjoyable childhood in that small southeast Texas town. One highlight was going with his dad on hunting and fishing weekend adventures in the Pineywoods. While in Crockett High School, he lettered in football and basketball and graduated in 1951 as an honor student. L. A. then entered Texas A&M University and upon graduation from there in 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jane Smith, who had just graduated from UT-Austin.

After earning a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in electrical engineering at Texas A&M, L. A. chose to begin his engineering career at Sandia Laboratory in Albuquerque, N. M., where he was located for two years. In September 1959, he and Barbara and their two small sons, Keith and David, moved to Fort Worth, Texas where they have resided for many years. He began his longtime employment of approximately fifty years with General Dynamics, which later became Lockheed/Martin FW.

L. A. participated within numerous projects while working there, including the Radar System, Compass EARS, Big Safari, and the AFEWS System, which are a few of the areas he worked. Some of his assignments took him to various places around the world. One assignment was at SAV Headquarters at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska in the early 1960's which involved the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He was an assistant Scoutmaster for several years while Keith and David were Boy Scouts. L. A. always enjoyed helping with the activities and projects of his grandchildren. His interests have included photography, fishing, and sports. Also, an active member of the University Baptist Church and Tau Beta Pi, an honorary A. & M engineering fraternity.

L. A. had a strong work ethic which began when he was a teenager and continued throughout his lifetime with a can-do attitude. He was a person devoted to his family, a man of integrity and honesty, ready to lend a helping hand to a family member or friend. He will definitely be missed.

L. A. is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Smith Parker; sons, Keith Parker and wife, Ginger, David Parker and wife, Stancy; grandchildren, Andrew Parker and wife, Venessia, Jameson Parker and wife, Sara, Katie Parker, Amanda Parker, Holly Ramirez, Kayla Neal and husband, Jason; eleven beloved great-grandchildren; special niece, Karoly Killian of North Carolina; cousins, Janie Ivins of Crockett, George Worsham of Philippines; many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside funeral services for Lonzie Albert "L. A." Parker, Jr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Evergreen Memorial Park with Pastor Leon Wallace officiating.
