L Brent Castle passed away unexpectedly on Sunday August 11, 2024, 18 days shy of his 80th birthday. Brent was born August 29, 1944 in Logan, Utah to Forrest Linden Castle and Claris Reese Castle. He was the second of four children. He lived in Logan, Salt Lake, British Columbia-Canada, Fresno-CA, and Ogden as they moved around for his dad's job. Brent graduated from Ben Lomond High School and Weber State College, majoring in Geology. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Western States Mission from 1962-64. He also served in the United States Army in the 60's.
On August 14, 1968, Brent married Marjorie Bond in the Logan Temple. He knew that she was the "bond" that would keep his family together forever. They were blessed with five children: Sterling, Spencer, Laurel, Jennifer, and Kristen. He loved his kids to do projects with him. He always wanted one of them to go with him to run errands; he didn't like to go anywhere alone. He loved eating all their Snickers candy bars they got for Halloween. The family took many road trips where Brent would sing songs and cook foil-wrapped dinners on the car engine. He made the best homemade pancakes, scones, and sweet rolls.
Brent was a great handyman and had various jobs that allowed him to use those talents. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, hunting, camping, gardening, food preservation, playing solitaire, his hot tub, and spending time at Snowbird and Tabiona.
As an active member of the LDS Church, Brent served in numerous capacities including: Bishop, Elders Quorum, Stake Sunday School, Young Men's program, Boy Scouts (Troop 16), and loved being Lesson Leader at the Wasatch Care Center. He served as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple for 10 years. He loved the Eccles Park (old 12th) Ward and all the great people he met there over the last 56 years.
Brent is survived by his loving wife Marjorie, his children Sterling (DeeDee) Castle, Spencer (Holly) Castle, Laurel (Tyler) DeGroot, Jennifer (Nyle) Critchlow, Kristen (Travis) Dean. He has 15 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving him are his brother Ron (Debby) Castle, his sister Marti (Dennis) Warr, sister-in-law Vicki Castle-Smith, sister-in-law Kathryn (Herb) Berkowitz, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Brent was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Richard and Lu P Bond, his older brother, Saxon, and his sister-in-law Sharyl D Castle.
The viewing will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Myers Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden, Utah.
