Acel Christensen Wimmer

Acel Christensen Wimmer, a beloved brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 83 (a couple hours shy of his 84th birthday). Born on February 12, 1942, in Logan, Utah, he was the third child of Rex Forrest and Rhoda Ethelda Christensen Wimmer.

Acel served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Scotland and then served for two years in the United States Navy. He spent much of his time there as a seaman. Later, he worked at Hill Air Force Base as a parts expeditor until his retirement.

Acel was sealed to Judith Lynne Baker on July 26, 1968, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Their relationship was one of love, devotion and service to God. They were the proud parents of five children: Tera, Ladd, Roy, Rex, and Wallace.

Acel lived a life full of service to his family, country, and God. He showed great strength,

resilience, and steadfastness in overcoming many difficult trials in life.

Acel was dedicated to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and served faithfully in callings and

assignments for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Ogden Temple for many years, nearly from its opening. Every Friday night he would work in the Temple Baptistry, and in later years he and Judith were consistently at the temple doing sealing ordinance

work.

He read scriptures and church manuals as a regular, daily habit with his wife. He loved to do puzzles and work in the yard. Gardening brought him joy and calm, as well as produce to sustain his family. Acel also loved to sing and would often break out in singing a hymn that was in his heart. He was limited in his physical activities because of a car accident that severely broke his leg in

mid-life, but he always persisted in wanting to do things himself. Acel never wanted pity or excessive attention, especially for his pains or disabilities. He rarely took offense, being quick to forgive and move on with life and with relationships. He loved to chat with anyone and everyone he came contact with, both friends and strangers. He was always interested in people around him and what they'd experienced. He had a great memory and could recall conversations and details he'd learned from his interactions with others through the years.

Acel was preceded in death by his wife, Judith; his son, Roy; his brothers, Warren and Boyd; and his parents, Rex and Rhoda Wimmer. He is survived by his children and grandchildren: Tera Wimmer (Shaun) Spendlove and children Joseph, Jared, Lilly, and Amanda; Ladd (Renaye Clark) Wimmer and children Jenika, Ethan, Karina (McKay Johns), Daria (Joseph Jones), Alia, and Tirsa; Rex Wimmer and son Taylor; Wallace (Heather) Wimmer and daughter Alice. He is also survived by his siblings: Wanda (Leroy) Loftis Williams, Glade (Shawna), Jeanne (Don)

Cassat, and Kent (Cathy) Wimmer.

He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and neighbors. Rest in peace, Acel. You were deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

A viewing will be held Monday, February 23rd, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd,

Ogden, Utah, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, February 24th, from 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at the Plain City Stake Center (3rd Ward), 4575 West 2125 North, Plain City, Utah, prior to the funeral at 1:00 p.m.
