L. Thompson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Funeral Alternatives Group - Lewiston on Feb. 25, 2026.
L. Emery Thompson, 95, of Wilton, went to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Friday 13, 2026 at his home in Wilton. He was born January 3rd, 1931 to Clyde and Linnie (Kennedy) Thompson.

Emery attended local schools in Wilton. He married Shirley A Tilton on September 24, 1954. Together they made their home in Jay and Wilton raising their two children. He served in the US Navy from 1950-1954 during the Korean War as a MM2. After his discharge he went to work at the Paper Mill in Jay, Maine, working for 19 years. After leaving the mill, he and his wife became caretakers for private estates for many years and returned to Maine. The last of him working, he worked part time at Irving's restaurant and Community Action in the area.

He loved to play music, playing mostly string instruments. He played in a variety of places and with a variety of friends. You may remember him from a group called the Silvery Seasons. He loved being in the woods riding along on his Razor with other riders, and quiet days by himself.

Emery is survived by his wife Shirley A. of 71 years, his children Gene Thompson of Zambales, Philippines, Audrey Guptill (George) of Wilton, siblings: Brenda Eggert and Jack Thompson, Grandchildren: Melissa Brenner (Trevor), Andrea Taylor (Justin), Sam Thompson (Katie), Hannah Wallace (Patrick), great grandchildren: Chartie, Emma, Oliver, Dylan, Dakota, Dominic, Megan, Madison, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend Arthur Landry.

Emery was predeceased by his parents Clyde and Linnie (Kennedy) Thompson, siblings Clyde Thompson Jr., Oscar Thompson, Laura Sabin, Norma Marks, and Julie Small.
