Verna La'Vaughn Wiley, 90, of Goodman, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, at Medicalodge's in Neosho. Born on August 20, 1935, in Hoisington, Kansas, Verna lived a life marked by quiet strength, creativity, and love for her family.

She worked at Crowder Industries as a dedicated factory worker. Outside of work, Verna found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader and had a lifelong love of crafts - especially crocheting, hand stitching, embroidering, and upholstery work. Word searches and other quiet pastimes also brought her comfort and joy. Verna also had a special fondness for cats, whose companionship brought her great happiness over the years.

Verna is survived by her son, John Eric Phillips, and seven grandchildren: Jodey House, Heather Bundgard, Shonna Phillips, Brian Phillips, Brenton Phillips, Ce'Nedra Holden, and Sephrenia Phillips. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren who were a constant source of pride and joy in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her children Gerald Dale Phillips, Jr. and La'Neita Myers.
Verna's legacy is one of resilience, quiet wisdom, and deep devotion to those she loved. Her hands, always busy with a craft or project, created not just beautiful works but lasting memories for her family. She had a calming presence and a gentle spirit that made everyone feel welcome in her home.

Her faith, kindness, and unwavering support were the foundation of her family. Whether offering a listening ear, a warm meal, or a handmade gift, Verna gave of herself freely and without expectation.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her love and influence will continue to shine through the generations she leaves behind.
