Larry Ava "L.A." Boyette, Jr., 90, peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Johnston County on February 21, 1935, he was the son of the late Larry Ava, Sr. and Sallie Godwin Boyette.

In addition to his parents, L.A. was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Liles Boyette; brother, Robert Dock Boyette; and sister, Nancy Fulghum.

L.A. is survived by his daughter, Debbie Tripp and husband, Charles of Lake Gaston; sons, Donnie Boyette and wife, Ellen of Kenly, Brent Boyette and fiancée, Wendy of Kenly; grandchildren, David, Mary-Beth, Kelvin, Deborah, Susan, Hunter, Jaden, Fisher, and Madison; great grandchildren, Tripp, Kristen, Auston, Ashton, Carson, Grayson, Emma, and Allie; and great-great-grandson, Lesh; and several nieces and nephews.

L.A. was a lifetime member of Marsh Swamp Free Will Baptist Church in the Rock Ridge Community where he had served as a deacon.

L.A. was a long-time farmer, working the land to provide for his family. Outside of work, he took great pleasure in being outdoors either bass fishing or mowing his yard. L.A. was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching old movies, especially Westerns.

A private graveside service for the family will be held at Marsh Swamp Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Kenly Funeral Service and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Marsh Swamp Free Will Baptist Memorial Building Fund, c/o Mrs. Linda Miller, 6504 Rock Ridge School Road, Wilson, NC 27893, or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kenly Funeral & Cremation Service.
