June 20, 1937 – June 27, 2023
Lacy Lee Gaster, Jr. went peacefully to be with Jesus on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born June 20, 1937 to Lacy Gaster, Sr and Gladys Hamilton in Asheboro, NC. Lacy lost his father at the young age of 3 and was raised by his mother, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Growing up he helped out at his grandfather's grocery store and had many adventures with his sister Ann and his cousins. After breaking his back in a car accident, Lacy worked hard and had a full recovery. He enlisted in the Navy at age 18 to see the world. He was stationed on aircraft carriers as an A.O. When his deployment was done, he moved to MN to find work. He began his long career as a carpet layer, then measurer. In November of 1962, at the roller rink, he met the love of his life, Mary. They were married February 1, 1963. Lacy and Mary raised 4 children and were blessed with 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Lacy coached softball, baseball, and basketball; whatever his kids were into he would be there looking to get involved. He was a member of the JC's and part of the Brooklyn Center park and recreation as well as an avid outdoorsmen. He received his AA in Building Ordinances and Code from North Hennepin Community College. He loved his family very much and instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of family. He will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by father Lacy Lee Gaster, Sr.; mother Gladys Hamilton Gaster Sharpe, and sister Judy Sharon Sharpe. Lacy is survived by sisters Ann Brower and Sue Aaron, wife, Mary Lou Cameron Gaster; daughters Linda (Dave) Taylor, DeAnn (Michael) Oquendo, and Renee (Derek) Mosolf; son Tom (Yolanda) Gaster, grandsons Jeff (Heidi) Lundholm, JT Gaster, Matt (Emily) Mosolf, Tony Mosolf, Gabriel Oquendo and Josiah Oquendo; granddaughter April (Justin) Johnson; great-granddaughters Avery, Tessa, Teagan, and great-grandson Parker.
