Albert Gaster

Albert B. Gaster resided his entire 88 years in Alameda where he passed away at home surrounded by his children on July 7, 2024. He was a second-generation Alamedan born to Mr. And Mrs. Henry E. Gaster and attended Alameda schools graduating from Alameda High School. He went on to join the National Guard and remained in service to our country for over 30 years retiring as a LTC in the U.S. Army. He also worked at Pacific Telephone for over 40 years as did his father. He attended local community colleges, the United States Army Field Artillery School and Officer Candidate School in Fort Sill Oklahoma, and University of Nevada, Reno where he obtained his bachelors degree.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Mary Ann Jones (Roland), and his brother Edward Gaster (Nancy). Albert was the loving father of Steven Gaster (Jacqueline), Janet Schwabenbauer (Jon) and Susan Giarrusso; grandfather of Michael Giarrusso, Celeste Scully (Eric), Jon and Joseph Schwabenbauer, Jeffrey Perez (Ashley) and Steven Gaster II; great-grandfather of seven; uncle to many nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to attend the services in honor of Mr Gaster. Tuesday, July 23, 2024 Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the Vigil Service beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services. Wednesday, July 24, 2024 the Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas. Mr. Gaster will be laid to rest at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
