In Loving MemoryLaDonna Marie ValentiJanuary 7, 1938 - July 12, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our matriarch, LaDonna Marie Valenti, on Saturday, July 12th, at her Pebble Beach home, surrounded by her loving family.
Donna was born on January 7th, 1938, in Lebanon, Oregon to Raymond and Frances Anderson. She was raised with her two beloved sisters, Alice Ditzenberger and Peggy Pettis, both of whom preceded her in death.
In the late 1950s, Donna moved to California, where she met the love of her life, John "Jack" Valenti, in Paso Robles. They were married on June 28th, 1967, and soon made their home on the Monterey Peninsula, where they built a beautiful life and partnership that spanned over 55 years until Jack's passing in November of 2022.
Donna had a deep passion for the arts, particularly fiber arts, which she pursued throughout her life. An accomplished seamstress, quilter, knitter, and crocheter, she created countless cherished works of art, from intricate quilts to one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces. She was an active member of the Monterey Peninsula Quilting Guild and a devoted participant in Tea Timers, a local group of kindred spirits who shared her love of textile art. Her varied and beautiful works would often be displayed at quilt/fabric art shows where she was recognized for her talent and creativity.
A lifelong learner and curious spirit, Donna also had a great love for mystery novels and was rarely seen without a book nearby. Donna and Jack were avid travelers, exploring locations worldwide, meeting people, making new friends, and seeing the wonders of many beautiful countries. By far her favorite destination was Hawaii, a place that brought her peace, joy, and inspiration.
Donna also dedicated herself to community service. For over 25 years, she was a proud member of the local Lions Club, serving others with compassion and enthusiasm.
Donna is survived by her four children: Brad (Liz) Valenti, Andrea Valenti, Petrina (Bill) Riso, and Nicholas (Lupe) Valenti, eight grandchildren, as well as three great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
A celebration of life will be held from 12 - 1 PM on Tuesday, August 5th at Mission Mortuary in Monterey, followed by an inurnment at San Carlos Cemetery at 1:30 PM. A reception in her honor will be held at the function hall of the Blind and Visually Impaired Center of Monterey County at 225 Laurel Ave in Pacific Grove at 2 PM. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Donna's memory to the Blind and Visually Impaired Center of Monterey County.
