Lafern was born on October 22, 1935, in Bowlegs, Oklahoma, to Melvin and Mary Dorsett. She was a devoted wife to William Hage and together they raised two children, Peder and Mary Ellen. Throughout her life, Lafern was known for her deep compassion and care, having looked after many children over the years with love and dedication.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Hage; her granddaughter, Iz Phoenix Willey; her great-grandchildren, Connor, April, and Terren; and her nieces, Billie Carr and Holly Pendt.
Lafern was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and two brothers; her beloved husband, William; and her son, Peder.
