Lainey Homesley Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 6, 2024.
Lainey Homesley was born on May 28, 2008, at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Jenifer and Jeremy Homesley. From the start, Lainey brought joy and light to her family, building deep connections with her siblings, her mom, and dad, as well as her stepmom Morgan and stepdad Michael.
Lainey lived her life to the fullest, and her vibrant spirit touched everyone she encountered. Lainey passed away on July 4, 2024. In His wisdom, God chose not to add years to Lainey's life, but He did add life to her years. As Hebrews 11:4 says of Abel, "And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks."
As Shakespeare said, "Lives of the great ones all remind us we can live our lives sublime, and departing leave behind us footprints in the sand of time."
Lainey was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Louis Homesley, Scott Doty, and Mickey Jaskul.
She is survived by her maternal grandparents, Peggy McAllister and Tim Meyer; her paternal grandparent, Pat Homesley; her mother and stepfather, Jenifer Homesley and Michael Edwards; her father and stepmother, Jeremy Homesley and Morgan Melton; and her siblings Brayden Homesley, Miles Edwards, Mason Byrd, Zada Edwards, Michael Edwards (MJ), and Maci Edwards. She is also survived by many other friends and family members.
Lainey was the brightest spot in the lives of everyone she met and was loved by so many. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

An activity that reminds me of lainey is volleyball. No matter how tired lainey was she always put her all into volleyball. She continuously put in the work and she got so so good! She loved the sport and had so much fun doing it. I am so beyond glad that anytime i pick up a volleyball i know i will be playing in her honor

I met Lainey my sophomore year and her freshman year, she would always have to run in volleyball with how forgetful she could be and she always had a sense of humor when it came to things not going her way. I also did a little community service with her and she was just so easy to talk to and made 2 hours feel like 5 minutes. Throughout the time I knew her she was kind and genuine and always had a smile on her face. She truly was such a beautiful soul.

Lainey and I were on the same volleyball team 1-2 years ago and ever since we’ve kept in touch with each other through instagram and tiktok. Lainey was one of my closes friends on the team; she was kind, sweet, funny, outgoing, and deserved everything under the sun. When i got the news i was devastated. I’m sending thoughts and prayers to Lainey and her family. Rest easy lainey
