Obituary
Dalton, GA Mr. Lamar Edward Brown, aged 81, of Dalton, passed peacefully on February 4,2026 at Ridgewood Manor.
Son of the late John Edward Brown and Bertha Haddock Brown. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Brown and mother and father -in-law, John and Verl King Hambright, brothers in law John Williams and John Sofios, Ron Davis and two nephews Kenny and Tony Brown.
Lamar is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Sylvia Brown; son Adam Edward Brown of Marietta, GA, and daughter and son in law, Kari Brown Sostrom (Greg) of Murfreesboro, TN, and sister Janis Davis of Ludowici, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tyler Sostrom, (Lacey), Cody Sostrom (Shannon) and Jordan Sostrom, sisters in law Joyce Williams, Kay Sofios, nieces and nephews Robyn Wood, Scott Williams, Angela Myers, Tiffany Bowling, and Nick Davis. He was a proud great grandfather to Michaela Elaine Sostrom and Elexis Addisyn Ray. Dear friends also include Allen and Charlene Headrick, Robert McBee, and Ken and Margaret Ogle.
Proud veteran of the United States Army he went on to build a 40+ year career as a long-haul truck driver-earning the rare distinction of completing his entire career without a single accident. He enjoyed fishing and boating with his friends and grandsons. He was a member of Cohutta First Baptist Church where his family of many generations worshipped. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and car racing, all of which brought him joy throughout his life.
The family invites friends and loved ones to gather at Dalton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with the funeral service at 1:00 pm in the chapel. Services will be officiated by Reverand James Brownlee and long-time friend, David Rose. Lamar will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cohutta First Baptist Church.
