Lamar Leavell Obituary
Lenor "Lamar" Leavell was born on July 5, 1964, in Dayton, OH, to the late Leonard Wise and the late Wanda Leavell-Dabney. He departed this life unexpectedly on May 4, 2025.
Lamar was a 1982 graduate of Kiser High School, where he was an all-around athlete, playing basketball, football, and running track. Following his years at Kiser, he went on to serve in the U.S Navy during Operation Desert Storm and completed 20 years of honorable service. After retirement from the Navy, he worked various jobs to keep himself busy, but his most favorite was volunteering for various high school track teams, where he considered himself an "honorary coach"!
"Pin Head," as his close friends affectionately called him, loved all sports, but he was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan. Prior to his health challenges, he loved roller skating and, to let him tell it, he was the coldest on wheels in the city! Lamar was always the life of every party and lit up the room whenever he entered. To know Lamar was to love him and hear him. Like his father, he never met a stranger, and if you weren't careful, you would end up in an hour-long conversation about nearly any subject. He loved nothing more than to gather a group of people to play dominoes, cards, and listen to music.
Lamar is preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents Mary and Wilbur Leavell, great-grandmother Beatrice Alexander-Ward, and great-grandfathers Paul Roth and George Wise. He leaves to honor his legacy his daughter Lonyeá "Yeá" Leavell, Steeler and Lil' Bit, his grand-fur babies, step-mothers Carolyn Wise and Shollet Wise, sisters Toya Leavell-Thomas (Kevin), Sherí Wise all of Dayton, OH, and Lynette White of Athens GA.; nephews Dajuan Leavell (Jillian) of Texas, Kendrick Reddish and Davondrick Reddish of Athens, GA.; niece Ashley Leavell of Toledo, OH; special niece Shamika Lee; special friends Garland Ferguson, Allen Clark, Clarence Taylor, Matthew Monie, Reginald Greathouse, Linda Ward-Terrell, Kiser Class of '82, and an entire village of family and friends.

My brother I'm blessed to have shared the journey of life with you from the neighborhood, to middle and high school, 20 plus years in the Navy and the golden years afterwards. I'm going to miss you. My mother is going to miss you dearly. Anchors away my brother, until we meet again, here's wishing you a happy voyager home. Peace, comfort and blessings to the family of Pin.

My name is Kevin Thomas, I am the husband of Toya Leavell-Thomas. Lamar is Toya's only sibling . All souls belong to God and when He calls them home , their spirits leave their bodies behind . Toya is facing the realization that her brother is no longer here where they can argue on the phone , or that she can get his text messages . Not only that , but she didn't get the chance to tell her brother that she loved him , one last time. As for myself I have known Lamar for 18 years and I will sorely miss my brother in law .
