Lamar Johnson Smith Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2nd, 2026, at the age of 89 in Cartersville, GA. Born on Monday, May 11th, 1936, in Atlanta, Georgia, Lamar's long and fulfilling life was marked by devotion to his family and dedication to his profession.

Lamar spent many years as an Internal Auditor. Known for his keen attention to detail and unwavering integrity, Lamar's career left a lasting impact on all who worked with him.

Lamar is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Smith, with whom he shared many wonderful decades of marriage. His memory will also be cherished by his three sons: Clayton Smith and his wife Jenny, Eric Smith and his wife Harumi, and Jason Smith and his wife Ashley. Lamar was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Christian, Nina, Erin, Devon, and Ella, and a great-grandfather to Arlo and Aria, who brought him immense joy and pride.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lamar Smith Sr., and his mother, Lyle Smith. Lamar's passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Arrangements for Lamar are being handled by Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A private service will be held at a later date.

Lamar Johnson Smith Jr. will be remembered for his steadfast character, loving spirit, and sharp wit. He will be deeply missed but always remembered with love and admiration.
