Lamar Stapleton,82, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at his residence under the care of Georgia Hospice Care. He was born on April 20, 1941, in Broxton, Georgia to Edward and Annie Purvis Stapelton and lived in Douglas, Georgia for many years until moving to Tattnall County.

Lamar was a dedicated employee of Claxton Poultry and Crider Poultry for over 50 years Lamar and was a hardworking individual who devoted the majority of his life to the poultry industry. His relentless work ethic and unwavering commitment were evident throughout his extensive career. 

Outside of his professional life, Lamar had a rich and fulfilling personal life. He was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones. Whether it was hunting, fishing, working, gardening, or simply enjoying the company of his family and church family, Lamar found joy and fulfillment in every moment shared together.

Lamar's faith played an essential role in his life, and he was a respected member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shelby Jean Yarberry.

He is survived by:

Wife, Jan Stapelton of Glennville, Georgia

Children, Cindy Bailey of Douglas, Georgia
               Wanda Bryant of Axson, Georgia
               Doug Olliff of Glennville, Georgia

Siblings, Laverne Bennett (Larry) of Douglas, Georgia
               Colon Stapelton of Douglas, Georgia

Grandchildren, Jason Odum, Michael Odum, Paula Higgens, Matthew Bailey, Emma Olliff, Raelyn Olliff

Fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm, Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Gordon and Rev. Doug Weisel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
