Lanay was married to Khalid Parker for 25 years. Through this union created two children, Khaliea Parker and Khalid "Man Man" Lorenzo Parker.
Lanay spent her later years living in Morgantown, WV. She was the second mother to many of her children's friends and was a Sensei to all the children and smaller cousins, Along the way, she gained friends that lasted her a lifetime and became extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Khalid "Man Man" Parker; grandmothers Martha White and Lillian Lee; her brother, Freddie Barbie; and her cousin, Terry Wayne.
She is survived by her loving husband, Khalid Parker; their daughter, Khaliea Parker; grandchildren Lakyha "Lala" Parker, Louis "Grasshopper / LJ" Valentine, Lilly "Old Lady" Parker, Lorenzo Parker, Lincoln "Lupe" Parker, Lovieonna "PB" Parker, Janelle "Esther" McDaniel, and Laveah "Little Girl" McDaniel, Amaiah Lugo and Spirit Hopkins. She also leaves a special sister, Alicestein "Pumpkin" Alexander; spcial sons Keenon "Papa" Washington, Montell "Son" Jett, Marcus "Mouse" Jones, and Michael "Son" Meade, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may join the family to honor Lanay's life and legacy at Kingdom: A Community Church, 540 Fairmont Rd., Westover, on Tuesday, May 27th from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Wednesday, May 28th from 11:00 am until the time of her Homegoing Service at 12:00 noon officiated by Pastor Jason Sheffstall. Following the service, Lanay will be laid to rest with her son at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home by calling 304-292-9494.
Smith Funeral & Cremation Care and SFCC Crematory of Westover (304-292-9494) is providing compassionate professional services to the family.
