Lance W. Anderson, Sr., 65, of Carbondale, PA, died Monday, September 22, 2025 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA.

Born March 18, 1960 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert W. Anderson Sr., and the late Virginia Clark Anderson.

Lance was a graduate of Union Hill High School, Union City, NJ, and earned an associate's degree in computer science from St. Peters College, Jersey City, NJ. He then earned a bachelor's degree as a certified chef from the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY.

Lance served in the United States Army during the Persian Gulf War. He was the owner and operator of The Office Bar and Restaurant and was co-owner of Blue Street Bar and Restaurant, both in Scranton, PA.

He attended the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale and enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and watching television. He was a former member of the Forest City Lions Club and the American Legion Post 221, Carbondale. He also was an ordained minister.

He is survived by two sons: Lance W. Anderson, Jr. of Waymart, PA, and John P. Anderson of Waymart, PA; one sister: Melody Lee Sweeney of Carbondale, PA; one brother: Wesley Lee Anderson of Noxen, PA; a brother-in-law: James Sweeney of Carbondale, PA; a grandfather: Paul Woegen of Carbondale, PA; nieces and nephews, including Kasie Sweeny; several cousins, including Doreen Batson of Carbondale, PA.

He was also preceded in death by a son: Robert L. Anderson; and his twin brother: Robert W. Anderson, Jr.

The funeral will be Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with Rev. Jay Best, pastor of the Community Bible Church, Scott Township, PA, officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Friends may call Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
